SUP Camp Boulder - 2nd to 7th Grade - Day Camps

Stand up paddleboarding is loved for its convenience, overall strength building, and incredible views. Our Stand Up Paddleboarding summer camps take campers out on both flat-water and whitewater where they experience the fun of paddling with scenic perspective while developing their balance. Under the guidance of our highly trained instructors, campers learn basic strokes, rescue techniques, river reading, and water safety as they navigate beautiful bodies of water.

Campers take on activities tailored to their abilities, progressing as they build proficiency and comfort. We group them by grade range— 2nd – 4th graders or 5th – 7th graders — and give them plenty of individualized support as they develop confidence and deepen their technical skills, stroke by stroke.

Please note: SUP Day Camp campers should have some previous experience paddling in standing or moving water. In order to register for this program, campers MUST feel fully comfortable on open water and be comfortable being fully submerged in water for short periods of time.

If a camper does not meet this minimum skill requirement, we reserve the right to move a camper to a different program (if space is available) or remove the camper from the group and offer a credit.

THE WEEK’S ADVENTURES

Flat Water

Whitewater

Safety & Rescue

Campers spend the first days of the week learning flat-water skills, learning equipment basics, getting comfortable balancing on their boards, and practicing a variety of stances, strokes and maneuvers.

During the second half of the week, campers will leave flat-water behind to build knowledge and skills in moving water, practicing their technique. Please note that our paddling locations will depend on water levels and group ability.

Alongside their paddling instruction, we teach campers a range of advanced safety and rescue techniques including swim rescue, recovering a lost board, and towing an injured paddler.

Camp Value

Why Sign Up For Multiple Sessions?

Based on our experience (and a bunch of brain science), we know that multiple sessions of Avid camp will benefit your child – it will result in greater skill development, increased self-confidence, higher levels of risk assessment/environmental awareness, and an improved ability to connect socially with others and make new friends.

WE TAKE SAFETY SERIOUSLY

While no outdoor adventure is totally risk-free, we work hard to keep your kids safe. Every activity starts with a discussion about the risks involved -- what they are, how to prevent them, how to respond if something goes wrong -- so kids learn how to approach challenges with intelligence and skill.
