Day Camp: Denver Rock Climbing Camp

Avid4 Adventure’s Denver Rock Climbing Camp offers participants the opportunity to progressively climb and experience diverse routes and rock types over the course of a week, while focusing on the safety and enjoyment of the sport. Kids will develop skills and experience through increasingly challenging techniques, exercises, and routes, all while learning team-building and individual leadership skills with friends. Those participating should have prior experience with basic rock climbing using ropes and harnesses, either outside or in a gym. All technical climbing equipment is provided.

Times, Meeting Location, & Dates:

Times: Drop-off at 8:45am and pick-up at 2:30pm. Optional Extended Care is available from 8:00am – 5:30pm.

Meeting Location: Meets at St. John’s Lutheran Church (no affiliation) 700 South Franklin Street Denver, CO 80209

2012 Dates:

• Ages 7-9: July 9-13
• Ages 10-12: July 30- August 3

• Climb in world renowned areas such as Boulder Canyon, Clear Creek Canyon, and the Flatiron Range.
• Refine climbing movement and techniques through bouldering practice.
• Learn about climbing safety, traditional gear placement, natural anchors, climbing ethics, crack and face climbing techniques, knots, and hazard identification and evaluation.

Overview for Denver Rock Climbing Camp:

The Denver rock climbing camp provides a special opportunity for your son or daughter to climb some of the renowned formations and routes that have made the Flatirons famous. Learn the skills of a rock climber, such as proper equipment use and care, knots, belaying, rappelling, and basic to advanced climbing movements and techniques. Led by our professional staff, the participants will experience a variety of Front Range locations from the perfect granite walls of Boulder Canyon to the marbled rock and countless routes of Clear Creek Canyon. As with all Avid4 Adventure programs, kids will also enjoy fun games, unique team building and individual challenges within a safety-oriented, supportive and empowering social setting.

• A day of bouldering and basic climbing techniques.
• Four progressive days of climbing in different sites illustrating numerous rock types and levels of difficulty and style.
