Ages 18+

Our Internship Program is designed for college students age 18 and up who are eager for experience in adventure education and/or camp administration. As a CMC intern, you’ll train with the Avid4 Adventure staff and spend a full summer season getting paid to work with them, learning from their expertise and gaining lasting experience you won’t get from any other summer job.

Alongside a small group of fellow interns, you’ll build experience with every aspect of camp—how to keep operations running smoothly, supervise adventure sports, plan activities and expeditions—and help design your experience to reflect what you’re most passionate about. From leading adventures to developing camp events, every day brings new opportunities to stretch your limits, manage your own projects and develop new expertise.

Our team is committed to developing your leadership abilities and nurturing your career in adventure education. At the end of the season, you’ll leave camp with all the practical skills, professional experience and confidence you need to become an Avid4 Adventure staff member—or wherever your career takes you next. Space is limited, so apply early! We give preference to campers who have completed our Educator-in-Training Program.

Adventure Sports
Camp Programming & Operations
Specialty Activities

Take the lead in getting campers comfortable with our signature adventure sports, including rock climbing, mountain biking, kayaking, canoeing, stand up paddleboarding and overnight expeditions. You may also have the opportunity to step into an instructor role, building hands-on leadership skills as you guide your own camper group.

Interns support every aspect of camp. From working with the program director to develop and put on camp events to assisting in dining hall operations to taking on leadership roles at parents’ day, you’ll help manage the projects that keep CMC on track.

Every day at camp is a new adventure, one that might include leading target practice at the archery and slingshot range, saddling up for a horseback ride, assisting on a whitewater rafting excursion or overseeing campers on our challenge course. You’ll also have the chance to run campfires, transport campers to offsite activities and much, much more.

What You’ll Take Away

In addition to a memorable, meaningful season at camp, you’ll leave your internship with:

  • Certifications in small craft safety, climbing, biking, and more
  • A strong foundation for future work with kids in the outdoors
  • Practical professional skills and tons of job experience
  • References and job recommendations from our staff
  • Internship credit through your school or advisor
  • The opportunity to become an Avid4 Adventure staff member
