Extended Care & Early Drop

Avid4 Adventure offers the option for early drop-off starting at 8:00 AM for $25/week, and/or late pick-up until 5:30 PM for $75/week. During the after camp program, participants will have an afternoon snack, and then participate in arts and crafts, outdoor games, and hands-on projects. This service is provided by Avid4 Adventure after-care specialists that are trained by Avid4, so it makes for an easy and comfortable transition from the rest of the camp day. After care is provided on a space available basis, so register early!

Camp Photos

Every day at camp each group carries a digital camera with them and takes photos in the field. These photos are then uploaded to a site that you can view, share, download, and print from. This popular service is now included in your Registration Fee. You will receive an email with a link to your photos by the third day of camp.

Tee Shirts

Show your camp pride with high quality Avid4 Adventure logo imprinted apparel! 100% cotton Avid4 Adventure Tee Shirts are included in your Registration Fee. Additional shirts are available for only $10. Tee Shirts are pre-shrunk, with taped neck and double stitched collar and hems. Tees will be delivered to participants during their first week at camp.

Lunches (Boulder & Denver only)

We will enjoy our lunches in the field, so please pack a nutritious meal to provide energy for the day. In addition, please pack at least 2 water bottles for your child. In order to ease the summer logistic burden on parents, Avid4 Adventure has partnered with Spruce Confections to provide an option for tasty and nutritional lunches for only $6.00 a day. By selecting this option with your registration, your child’s lunch will be made fresh each morning and delivered directly to camp. Each day’s lunch will contain:

  • A sandwich (for example, ham, chicken, or turkey breast)
  • 1 piece of fruit or vegetable (apple, orange, etc.)
  • 1 Cookie or snack

We selected Spruce Confections due to their commitment to the highest standards in natural, local, nutritional foods. They strive to offer the highest quality, least processed, most flavorful and naturally preserved foods.

Friends Together

We will make our best effort to accommodate friends that want to be in the same group together, but cannot guarantee such. When you proceed with the online registration, there will be a space for you to indicate the names of friends that you think will attend the same session of camp. Please note that in nearly all cases, age-consistency in a group will override a friends’ request. In our experience, placing children more than 2 years different in age than the rest of their group members results in social adjustment problems.  For programs at Valmont Bike Park, groups will be arranged by skill level as opposed to age or friends’ requests.

Returning Campers

If you really want to take the next step in outdoor adventure, sign up for our two-week Advanced Camp, activity specific Intensives, or Camp Eden Resident Camp. These programs are specifically oriented to give kids more advanced instruction and challenges after they have attended a regular week of camp.

Forms & First Morning Registration

New in 2012: You do not need to bring any paperwork to camp unless your child has special medical needs.

Once you fill out all of the online health history and emergency contact information there is no paperwork you need to bring to camp except:

  • If you opted to bring a Colorado Immunization Record during online registration. This is the same immunization record that you use for school. If you want a copy of this form, visit: http://www.avid4.com/forms/ColoradoImmunizationForm.pdf
  • If your child caries an inhaler or an epi-pen, we require a Respiratory Issues Health Care Plan or Severe Allergic Reaction Health Care Plan or to be submitted. These forms require both a physician and parent signature. We would like to have the forms faxed to our office at 303-265-9445 as soon as you have them completed so that we have time to review them before the program. Please bring the original with you the first day of camp. These forms can be found on our website in the Forms section.

You will be digitally signing our release form during registration, if you would like to review that release form it can be found on our website in the forms section: Camp Risk Acknowledgement & Release

What to Bring

All items must be clearly labeled with the child’s first and last name. Please adjust the following list for specialized programs (for example, no need to bring water shoes on the rock climbing intensive or a swimsuit to Valmont Bike Park programs). When your child is kayaking or canoeing, please send him or her to camp wearing their water clothes and shoes.

PLEASE note that each child’s group will have a large bin to hold all of the gear that they will not need for that particular day. So, if you send your child to camp prepared for the week, then (s)he can leave unused articles in the bin for the entire week and take them home on Friday. It is extremely helpful to send your child to camp dressed in water clothes on the days that (s)he is kayaking or canoeing.

PLEASE label all of your child’s clothing and gear:

  • A backpack, sized to fit your child, that can hold all personal belongings listed below.
  • Clothing for any weather, including at least one warm layer (fleece jacket, etc.). More specifically, if rain is in the forecast, campers should have an outer waterproof layer (rain jacket or poncho that will not soak through in heavy rain), and a warm layer (not cotton because it gets cold when wet), in addition to the cloths that they wear. If the high for the day is 60 degrees or below, please also include a second warm layer, long pants, and a hat. Kids have fun in all weather conditions, as long as they are warm!
  • A hat that provides full sun protection
  • Closed toe shoes appropriate for hiking, biking, and climbing.
  • Closed-toe water shoes (Crocs, Keens, or some footwear that campers can wear in a stream or lake— we prefer closed-toes in order to protect your children’s toes and feet).
  • A swimsuit and towel (optional) on days the child goes kayaking or canoeing. It is easiest if your child wears his or her water clothes to camp on those days.  One group will be kayaking and canoeing on the first day of camp, so please dress appropriately on Monday if this applies to your camper.
  • A full, non-breakable, non-leaking, water bottle labeled with the child’s name— if possible, please send your child to camp with 2 water bottles
  • Sunscreen (15+ SPF) with child’s name clearly labeled
  • Mosquito Repellant (optional) with child’s name clearly labeled
  • Rain gear (poncho/jacket)
  • Lunch (no refrigeration necessary and creating the minimum amount of trash which the camper will need to carry out on hiking days)
  • Extra clothes (optional) in large ziplock, especially for 5-6 year olds
  • Sunglasses (optional)
  • Bandana (optional)
  • For Valmont Bike Park: please bring bike gloves, elbow pads, knee pads, bike and helmet!

Nature of Activities

At Avid4 we are outside playing, running, kayaking, hiking, biking and climbing every day. During the course of a week, it is often the case that campers will come home with a scrape or bruise due to the physicality of activities. This is simply the nature of learning outdoor activities. For a more detailed discussion of the spectrum of risks involved in outdoor activities, please refer to our Parent Handbook and/or our Acknowledgement & Assumption of Risks form, or talk with the Avid4 Camp or Program Director.

Parent Handbook

We have an extensive Parent Handbook that has information on all aspects of our program. It is available for you at: http://avid4.com/handbooks/ParentHandbook-2012.pdf

We also have a Parent Handbook for the Pre-K Discovery Program: http://avid4.com/handbooks/2012-Discovery-ParentHandbook.pdf
